Petals

The inspiration for the graphics Petals and Flora, was love and admiration for flowers. Since I adore flowers, I often visit the Copenhagen Botanical Garden, where I take pictures and think about new graphics, I could draw.

I love the idea that flowers can improve our homes and our mood. It is wonderfull to decorate a home with fresh flowers, but also with images of flowers, that is why I thought to create graphics which can be used for that purpose.

The Golden Ratio

the golden ratio

The Golden Ratio or Divine Proportion, was the inspiration for this art graphic. Some of the greatest mathematicians of all times, such as Pythagoras, Euclid and Leonardo of Pisa, have studied the properties of the Golden Ratio. One of the fascinating aspects of the Ratio, is its profound relation to nature, art and harmony. The Golden Ratio is represented by the letter, or symbol φ (pronounced “phi”), which correspond to the proportion:

1 : 1,618 • these values are calculated in the mathematical formula • φ = [1 + √5] : 2 = 1,618

Many artists and architects of all times, have believed that, great harmony and beauty could be achived by using such proportion, for example in a composition, or in the structure of a building.
The Golden Ratio is often used, to bring attention on a point, or an element, in a composition.

Use of The Divine Proportion, can be seen for example, in Leonardo Da Vinci’s work, in fact, it is very common in all Renaissance Art production.

The Morning Star

The inspiration for this art graphic, were the sky and the stars. The style is very infuenced by Byzantine Art and art of mosaic. We describe as Byzantine Art, the artistic production created in the Eastern Roman Empire.

Some of the most beautiful examples of Byzantine Art are in Ravenna Italy, one of them is the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia.
